National Rental Home Council Announces Leadership Transition

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 30, 2019) — The National Rental Home Council (NRHC) today announced the resignation of Executive Director Diane Tomb. She is leaving the organization to become Chief Executive Officer of the American Land Title Association (ALTA).

“On behalf of the entire NRHC, I’d like to thank Diane for her years of service to NRHC and to the entire single-family rental industry,” said NRHC President Kevin Baldridge, the President of Tricon American Homes. “She has been a passionate and tireless advocate for the  fast growing, dynamic SFR industry and for policies that support rentership as a critical option in the housing market. Our organization and our industry are stronger for her leadership.”

As NRHC’s first executive director, Ms. Tomb oversaw significant membership growth, from six to more than 40, a seven-fold increase, encompassing owner-operators, vendors and service providers from all across the country. She also worked to expand the NRHC’s state and federal advocacy efforts and oversaw partnerships with the University of California Berkeley’s Terner Center for Housing Innovation, the Information Management Network, and numerous other key stakeholders. In 2017, she was named one of HousingWire’s Women of Influence, a recognition awarded to the most influential women in the housing industry.

Ms. Tomb’s last day with NRHC will be Friday, June 14th. She will begin her role at ALTA on Monday, July 1st.

Following Ms. Tomb’s departure, Kelley Keeler Short, NRHC Vice President of Public Affairs, will become the organization’s acting executive director while the organization searches for a permanent replacement. Ms. Keeler Short has significant experience in the world of housing policy, including serving in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from 2001 to 2004 and subsequently as Executive Director of Public Affairs for the Associated General Contractors of America.

“As excited as I am for this new opportunity, I will miss working with the talented people across the single-family rental industry,” Tomb said. “I’m confident that NRHC is in great hands under Kelley and Kevin’s leadership and that the organization will continue to be a powerful voice for the SFR industry and for the rights of renters.”
