It would have been easier, and my medical bills less, if we were renters and someone else, i.e. the landlord, was responsible for the maintenance. But I have kids, we wanted some space for them to run around. And plus, I’m of the generation where you grew up and bought a home. It’s just what you did; the American Dream and all that.
The American Dream, it seems, is changing.
